We have been looking forward to visiting the Los Alamos area with our son's family for several years as they live in Albuquerque, and my wife and I are in Florida. So when we arrived in White Rock, I was surprised by how small the town was. We took our grandsons for supper, and I was not expecting much. However, the old saying, "Don't judge a book by the cover," holds true for this Toco restaurant. The food is first class as well as authentic Mexican. Do yourself a favor and make sure you give them a try.
I have stopped for take out a couple of times. It is consistent and good. I believe the menu prices on Yelp are not the same as the prices at the restaurant. The Yelp prices need to be updated. Otherwise, a good choice in this small town where the restaurant options are limited.
Got there at lunch time. Parking lot was full of construction workers trucks. Good sign. Food was delicious. Order to take out or eat in. Order at counter and they bring it to your table. Wide variety and all five of us got something different and everything was good. Only draw back is is that it looks like it is in old Pizza Hut with no A/C or ceiling fall. Wasn't terrible but warm and stuffy.
We were in White Rock to get library cards. Long story, but if you live in NM, you should definitely do that... So we needed lunch and thought we'd go to Pig and Fig, but it was closed while they fixed the air conditioning. Just next door was El Rigoberto's. I had the carne asada fries, which were well done. The fries were hot and not greasy. The carne was not too fatty. I enjoyed the generous helping of guacamole. It's kind of hard to work in presentation of what's essentially a deconstructed burrito with fries, but I didn't concern myself with that. It hot I'm the spot. My wife said her two veggie tacos were "amazing." Next time we're in White Rock, maybe we'll get to Ping and Fig, but probably we'll be at Rigoberto's again.
Authentic, killer New Mexican food. Meat tastes fresh, crunchy and soft tacos. Red and green salsa is hot, yum!! Flavorful dishes. Clean restaurant and friendly staff. I will come back on my next trip to Bandelier!!
